Likely successor promoted to Lieutenant General


Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has promoted his son to the rank of lieutenant general – the second highest position in the army.

Lt Gen Kainerugaba Muhoozi is considered a likely successor to 74-year-old President Museveni, but denies any immediate plans to enter politics.

UPDF Decorates Newly Promoted Military Officers

The Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs Hon Adolf Mwesige has lauded the President of the Republic of Uganda and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces H.E Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for appreciating the impact played by UPDF Officers in stabilizing the country. Hon Mwesige who was represented by the minister of State for Defence incharge of Veteran Affairs Dr Bright Rwamirama said it is because of Gen Museveni’s contribution towards building a professional UPDF that we have peace and stability as vehicles for socio-economic transformation.

DP splashes 500M in Busoga UYD/DP reunion

Museveni in trouble: Kusasira meets Bobi Wine secretly


Uganda’s controversial female artist Catherine Kusasira sited in a secret meeting with Kyadondo East MP, Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine. The two meant on Saturday evening at a local hotel in Bweyogerere ,Kira municipality Wakiso district. The meeting was chaired by a lady who had shades covering her eyes and avail in an attempt not to be known.

Police officer accused of raping woman detained over infidelity


A woman, who was taken to police by her spouse on suspicion of infidelity and later detained, has claimed a police officer raped her at night.
The woman, aged 19, reported the case at Kira Division Police after Kirinya Police Station in Kira Municipality in Wakiso District, where she was allegedly raped by the probation police constable, had refused to register her complaint.

Kampala Metropolitan police spokesman, Mr Patrick Onyango, confirmed the complaint and said the accused police officer has been arrested and medical examinations on both the suspect and victim were also done.
“The suspect is still in custody as his file is being processed to appear in court on charges of rape,” he said.
The woman claims the incident happened at night in Kirinya Police Station on February 9.

Museveni sole NRM candidate ; 2021 lining behind during primaries


Supporters of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) will chose candidates for various elective positions by lining behind them, the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) has resolved.

Previously, during party primary elections, candidates were chosen through ballots. However, the system was prone to abuse with some candidates accusing their opponents of cheating leading to some of them to contest as independents for various political offices.

Bamwoze’s send off: No wreath on my casket


The late Bishop Cyprian Bamwoze had ‘a lot of confidence’ in Ugandan hospitals that he turned down all efforts to be flown abroad for specialized treatment, his family has said.

Bishop Bamwoze, the first Anglican Bishop of Busoga Diocese, on Monday succumbed to leukaemia at the Cancer Institute in Mulago at 85 years.

“He was taken to Nairobi hospital about four years ago but preferred local hospitals, arguing that this would bring confidence in them,” a family member, who declined to be named because the family had enlisted a spokesperson, said yesterday.
