Police officer disappears with Submachine gun, 60 bullets in Mukono

Police in Mukono is hunting for one of their own officers for disappearing with a police SGM riffle loaded with 60 rounds of ammunition.

The suspect has been Identified as No.62603 PC Mukulu Abed believed to have been deployed in Kasese district but stole a gun in Mukono district.

Burundi president: Rwanda is our enemy

Burundi’s president has called neighboring Rwanda an enemy in a letter to the Ugandan president.

Pierre Nkurunziza wrote to Ugandan counterpart, Yoweri Museveni, who is chair of the six-nation East African Community (EAC), saying he regards Rwanda not as a partner but as an enemy.

President Nkurunziza wants a special summit of the EAC – which comprises Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and South Sudan – to discuss the conflict.

Uganda MPs query legality of East African passport

The move to have an East African Community (EAC) international passport has hit a snag in Uganda after MPs blocked it over its legality and the cost to users.

In 2016, EAC leaders agreed to upgrade the EAC passport from a regional to an international document, with Kenya and Tanzania launching it last year.

Kampala top lawyer drags law firm to court over malicious prosecution

City lawyer Kavuma Kabenge has dragged Tumusiime, Kabega and Company Advocates to court, accusing the law firm of maliciously prosecuting him under the pretext of representing its clients.

Kabenge says that the law firm whose senior partners are Enos Tumusiime and criminal law giant MacDosman Kabega filed a suit against him on behalf of Jacko Chagga, Joanita Ochieng and Linda Ochieng.

Uganda accused of fanning South Sudan violence by supplying arms

Uganda defied a European Union arms embargo and purchased arms and ammunition from at

least three EU members  Bulgaria, Romania and Slovakia  that were then transferred to South Sudan’s military and armed allies in Sudan before the United Nations Security Council imposed an arms embargo on Juba in July this year.

Two Bank officials remanded to prison

Two Bank of Uganda security personnel have been charged with negligence leading to the disappearance of closed banks documents.
Ms Beatrice Kyambadde and Charles Mollo appeared before City Hall Court in Kampala on Tuesday and charged with negligence before they were remanded to Luzira Prison until December 6.

Deputy president of People Power Hon Zaake grilled for treason

Mityana municipality MP Francis Zaake was Monday questioned by police in a seven hour session that he said provided him with an opportunity to gather more evidence against the State on his own torture.
Mr Zaake was quizzed over alleged treason and escape from lawful custody at Arua Central Police Station in northern Uganda on August 13 where he had been detained following chaos on the last day of Arua municipality MP by-election which Kasiano Wadri won replacing slain NRM MP Ibrahim Abiriga.

Political Sergeant Bobi Wine case adjourned in Gulu

The Gulu Magistrate Court has again adjourned the treason case against Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine and 34 other suspects due to unfinished police investigations.
Mr Kyagulanyi, Arua Municipality Member of Parliament Kasiano Wadri, and 26 others on Monday appeared before Grade One Magistrate Isaac Imoran Kintu for mention of their case.
